Since our Chandler client’s design sensibility is eclectic with warm hues, pops of color, whimsical touches and lovers of native Indian artifacts this design project matches their personalities to a tee. We remodeled their entry corridor, family room, hallway and hall bath. We also replaced all the brass interior and exterior lighting, all door hardware and had the exterior of the home painted. In the entry corridor we replace the ceramic 8 x 8 while tile with acacia engineered wood plank flooring and carried it through the family room area. The natural varying tones of the acacia wood was pleasing to the eye and matches my client’s bold warm personalities. The entry corridor before was a bland white box we added some character and pops of color on the walls and brought out the architectural lines of the space. Because my client had inherited a vast worldwide collection of dolls from her mother we designed custom curio display cabinets flanking on either side of the corridor in an open niche. They are equipped with LED lighting and adjustable wood and glass shelving with storage drawers at the bottom of each cabinet so the client may periodically rotate out her doll collection as she pleased. We commissioned a meticulous furniture craftsman build them. With an eclectic design plan in place with a mix of warm and cool tones we incorporated many of the client’s own existing loved pieces in the mix. We mixed the vintage with the new. In the family room we restored a 150 year old blanket chest, gently added a platform to it to raise it up and used it as a cocktail table all the while keeping the patina of the metal strapping on the chest. It turned out fabulous! We added 3 comfortable stylish motorized leather recliners for TV viewing and reading and 2 comfortable swivel barrel chairs great for entertaining guests. Utilizing their existing fabulous extendible modern shelf unit as a media cabinet and storage display served as a great dual purpose function. The modern graphic area rug anchored the space while pops of color in the accent pillows, the accessories and art and cornice boxes brought life and personality to the family room. This room is full of life and speaks to the lively personalities of both of my clients.
In the hallway we ran the acacia flooring down the hall. We refurbished the hall niche cabinetry and replaces exposed hinges with concealed ones, added a grey quartz counter top and stylized the counter with simple accessories. All in all my clients’ are extremely happy in their spaces. They are loving to entertain with family and friends frequently.
In the hall bath we again refurbished the vanity cabinet and replaced the exposed hinges with hidden hinges. We replaced the old laminate counter top with a grey quartz countertop and because the existing cabinet sits low we selected above mount rectangle classic style sinks in order to raise up the function a bit. We replaced the brass plumbing fixtures with brushed nickel classic styling plumbing fixtures in the tub/shower and sinks. We replaced the brass accessories with brushed nickel towel rings, toilet tissue holder and a sliding brushed nickel shower door. We replaced the builder’s grade vanity lighting with classic brushed nickel lighting and we replaced the large builder’s grade mirror with 2 capiz shell framed mirrors for a stylish classic look. We also replaced the medicine cabinet with a larger classic one. We added soft aqua, greys and subtle pops of yellow with the accessories, client owned art and the tailored valance over the soft pleat shade on the door which leads to outside. This space exudes serenity relaxation and a design to withstand the test of time.
