This client, located in Chandler Arizona was desiring to accomplish several projects over time as funds come in. Their first project was the remodel of the master bath. This client’s interior design style is very eclectic and broad. They desired to infuse some Moroccan touches in the design so a traditional Moroccan design was set in place and performed. The old master builder’s grade shower was so tight that it was not functional at all to shower. We expanded the shower out into the space and added a floating bench which the client wanted. For ambience we added waterproof LED lighting underneath. We removed the builder’s grade cultured marble with large format travertine tile and an accent band of glass tile mosaic basket weave pattern in a neutral brown, peachy bronze glass tiles. The bronze tile liners and the inlay stone mosaic highlights as the focal point of the shower. We incorporated 2 niches for shampoos, soaps and shavers. The shower flooring is travertine 2 x 2 tiles. These clients wanted a hand held shower fixture, a rain head and a massage shower fixture. We added the gentle sloping top edge of the frameless glass surround as a whimsical touch. The clients loved it. We removed the builder’s grade low seating garden tub with a higher jetted tub so the client could get into and out of much easier. We also placed the plumbing fixture out of the way for easy transition in and out of the tub. We tiled the surround with the large format travertine. We gave thought should the client ever have to get to the jetted tub motor we implemented a small access point. We refinished the existing bachelor height maple cabinet with a dark stain finish which complimented the existing granite top. We changed out the chrome faucet fixtures with classic bronze faucet fixtures. We replaced the large 1 mirror with 2 bronze mirrors. Since our clients loved the existing lighting above the vanity, we hand painted the silver finish with rust and brown tones. We added a hand painted ceiling medallion and the bronze crystal dainty chandelier. Tying the soft sage green color palette and design style of the master bath with the master bedroom was seamless and made a soothing and comfortable luxurious space for the clients.

In the master bedroom the color palette on the wall was perfect with the selected design color palette. Soft sage greens, rusts, browns, persimmon tones bring a relaxing and soothing feel to this restful retreat. Selected beautiful fretwork carved Moroccan style king bed and large armoire just accentuated the vaulted ceiling in this spacious bedroom. With nice sized night chests on each side of the bed there is plenty of storage. A warm brown leather bench adds function at the foot of the bed. While an antique mahogany piecrust table and antique Victorian chair compliments and completes the restful design.

In the great room the design style is quite different than the master suite. The great room which consists of the living, dining and kitchen areas are modern with rustic and industrial touches and pops of red, orange, aqua, chartreuse, brown, taupe, grey and black and white. The fireplace façade got an update with rustic wood looking porcelain plank tile and beautiful iridescent aqua oval shaped glass tile bands for pops of color. Another small project was the design and creation of moveable cocktail table which is over a large square ottoman. This has been a very functional piece of furniture in my clients in the great room. We designed it with concealed castors which moves only in a forward and backward motion. The base is steel and is painted silver while the top is a beautiful organic slab of solid walnut we found locally. It happened to have the live edge of which we kept and an open crevice of which we inserted broken recycled colorful glass shards, led lighting in couple of spots and filled the crevice with resin. We installed a toggle switch to turn on the lights for ambiance. My clients use this as a table surface to eat from when it is just the two of them. When they want to put their feet up the just push the table away. In the dining area there are two vintage reupholstered channel back club chairs sitting in front of this large scale niche. The 2 chairs were upholstered in a two fabric taupe neutral combination and embellished with modern chrome nail head trim which gave them a classic timeless appeal. Sprinkled throughout the whole great room are accent pillows with various prints enhancing the color palette of the spaces, art and accessories also add pops of color throughout.

In the guest bedroom we designed a 3D inset cornice board Moroccan inspired to be mounted above the existing shutters. The color palette in this space is jewel toned with lilac, eggplant purple, persimmon, chartreuse and deep aqua tones.

This client’s home is a work in process. It is evolving and ever-changing.
